Voice Lessons
Adolescents - Adults

Beginner and Intermediate students of all ages will learn foundational methodology of singing in a creative, warm and sensitive approach. Instruction will include breathing for singing, optimal posture for practice and performance, diction study for English, Italian, Latin, German standard literature, as well instruction for contemporary performance. Students will receive individualized instruction to enable him/her to progress to levels that will give them confidence in public performance and pleasure in privacy. Students are encouraged to perform in private and public settings as often as possible. There will be Studio Recitals-one private (in the Winter), one public (in the Spring) in order to provide performance opportunity for all students. Lessons will be audio recorded for easy review and study. Students will have the convenience of the DaySong Studio™ website, which will allow them to receive email notices of announcements, reminders, notes from each lesson and the convenience of online payments and as well as the ability to check payment records. There are educational links as resources to assist students in their studies. Students are encouraged and welcome to contact Mrs. Day outside of the lesson time for assistance or with questions whenever necessary.

Mrs. Day is a graduate of the Buckingham County Public School System. She is also a graduate of Liberty Baptist College, Lynchburg, VA (Music Education), and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX (Master of Music). Mrs. Day is a member of the Charlottesville Music Teachers Association. Mrs. Day has taught General Music classes at the preschool, elementary and secondary levels. She has directed Choirs at the elementary, secondary and adult levels. She has also directed Handbell and Brass Choirs. She has taught Piano Classes at the secondary level, and has had several private piano students. She has taught music in Buckingham and Albemarle Counties, The Covenant School of Charlottesville, Charlottesville High School and Buford Middle School. Mrs. Day was the Church Music Director for The Salvation Army Corps (Church), Charlottesville for three and one half years. She previously studied voice with the late Edmund Najera of the University of Virginia and Piedmont Virginia Community College. She is currently studying voice with Ruth Ann Bishop of Piedmont Virginia Community College. She has sung with The Oratorio Society of Charlottesville-Albemarle, The Virginia Consort, The Virginia Consort Festival Chorus and the Piedmont Virginia Community College Choir. She is currently a member of The Oratorio Society of Virginia. Mrs. Day has presented in solo recital in Charlottesville, Buckingham and Lynchburg.
