About
Sloane has been teaching students to love and learn the piano, violin, viola, cello, and saxophone for over thirty years. She holds a Master's degree in music education and has experience teaching children and adults of all ages. She believes that each student is unique and adapts her teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles to help each student achieve their full potential. Sloane's students not only learn to excel on their instrument but they also learn music theory.
I currently teach private lessons to children and adults of all ages. I have taught in public and private schools from elementary to high school orchestra and band. I hold a BS in Music Therapy and an MS in Music Education.
In my first teaching experience the school I was in did not have an instrumental program. The school district was in a very poor underprivileged area and there wasn't any money in the budget for instruments. I felt so badly for these students that they could not experience the joys of learning a musical instrument. I felt I needed to do something to help these students so I contacted everyone I could and persuaded individuals and businesses to donate money so this school could have its first instrumental program. I was successful in raising the funds and starting the instrumental program.
I tell this story to share with you my strong feelings and beliefs in teaching music. I feel that every child should have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument of their choosing. I started on the violin when I was nine years old and developed a life-long love and appreciation of music.
