My teaching approach: Laid back, not a taskmaster but I do expect students to take the lessons seriously and practice regularly. Let them know what to expect as far as any physical discomforts as a guitarist, i.e. sore fingers, callus development, dangers of poor posture as well as that of a poor quality instrument.
