Thank you for your interest in The Music Loft.

Let me tell you a little bit about The Music Loft and what we do:

The Music Loft is a center of excellence for music education.  We specialize in private music instruction. All of our teachers are certified music educators and have experience working with all kinds of learners.  Each lesson is customized to fit your child's learning style.  Our lesson program runs in 8 week semesters (you can register at any time however).  We offer 7- 30 minute private lessons here at the studio with the same teacher on the same day and time that works for your schedule.

On the 8th week the students take UNLIMITED master classes.  We offer about 15-17 Master Classes during that week in which your child can participate in.  Master classes are designed to give your child a comprehensive music education.  Topics include music theory, songwriting, ensemble playing, intro to music software, and much more.  This unique program lays the foundation for a well rounded education which sets your child up for success in all areas of life.  Every semester the master classes change so they are always learning and discovering new and exciting things about music. The Master Classes are currently held in the Herndon location.

We also have 2 recitals a year.  One in the winter and one in the spring.

The entire semester is $350 and if you don't start during the first week of the semester, we will prorate the tuition for you based on when you start.  We require automatic billing to a credit or debit card, and you have the option to pay monthly or by the semester (bimonthly).  Currently, we are waiving the registration fee of $25.

I am happy to set up a free trial session for you to come in and meet one of our certified music teachers if that's something you're interested in doing.  We pride ourselves on making sure our students are paired with the right instructor, so if you can tell me something about the student, and his or her experience (if any), I can make a recommendation as to who you might like to meet.

Also, please let me know which location you prefer and if there's a day or time that works best for your schedule.

If you have other questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

After retiring from the public school system as a music teacher to raise my four children, I knew there was a dire need for quality private instruction. Coming from the public school sector, I was all too familiar with the challenges teachers face on a day to day basis.  The ratio of students to music teachers is overwhelming. Yet these teachers give their all every day to ensure that each student experiences a quality music education.

With a nod from my peers and the support of family and friends, I created a music studio that offers students the highest quality of private instruction.  My staff of qualified music educators and I share the same vision: to teach,
to grow and to inspire.

Our curriculum is like no other in the area. It focuses on the whole musician by providing a week of master classes every semester. Our commitment is to give you the finest private music education in northern Virginia.

We support and assist teachers and students in the public school classrooms by providing sectional and one on one help on an as needed basis.

We invite you to see why educators and parents value our expertise and knowledge in guiding our students.

I encourage you to register for a Free Trial Lesson.

3. What kind of learning style does the musician work best with?  Relaxed, structured, formal?

4. What are the goals of the individual?

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Here are some questions we get asked frequently:

How long will it take me to learn to play?  This is a difficult question to answer - consider this: 1) Like any new skill, students will progress on their instruments according to the amount of time they are able to spend practicing; 2) Anyone can make significant progress quickly with the help of an inspiring instructor.

Can adults learn to play an instrument?  YES! With the help of trained educators, patience and practice, playing an instrument is not only attainable but with it comes the reward of personal achievement and satisfaction. There are several benefits for adults to learn to play an instrument. Playing an instrument relieves stress, stimulates memory and possibly helps with specific joint ailments. Learning musical skills and techniques requires using mental faculties very specifically to enhance and stimulate mind and motor capabilities.

What are the benefits of private lessons?  Private instruction is the best way for anyone to learn to play an instrument. The focus is on the student's education, growth and development not only as a musician, but as an individual as well. The Music Loft staff crafts individual lessons around the learning style of each student in order to guide you in becoming a well rounded, confident musician.
