About
A local of the area, Peter Joshua Gil now resides in Downtown Lynchburg and has his studio in a renovated historic home on Court Street. It was around the age of 12 that Peter first picked up a guitar. Theirs was a casual acquaintance at first, Peter and his guitar, with no serious intentions, but the more time they spent together the more this fact became evident to everyone around: these two were made for each other.
Having been inseparable from his guitar throughout high school – he was at times restricted in how much we was allowed to practice by his parents – Peter decided to study the instrument in college and received his Bachelors of Music in Guitar Performance from Liberty University. There he earned multiple distinctions including holding first chair in the LU guitar ensemble from 2010-2014, winning the 2012 Liberty University Concerto Competition, being awarded the Liberty University Guitarist of the Year in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and being selected for multiple Honors Recitals.
Peter has performed nationally as a soloist, concerto performer and ensemble player in various venues and before world renowned artists. As an instructor he has taught all acoustic styles to students of all ages and levels of experience including beginners with no previous musical education as well as undergraduate students pursuing careers in music. Peter is passionate about interpreting, expressing and sharing the beauty and power of music with his audience and training students to make music with that same passion and excellence.
