I was classically trained for nine years. I have been playing piano for eighteen years and have been teaching for twelve years.
I am extremely relational. Teaching is not just about teaching to me. It is about building relationships with the student and with the family.
I teach to the student's ability. If the child is able to go through the primer in a matter of a few months. I will go quickly through the primer. If he needs to be in the primer for over a year. I will do that. I believe that every student is unique in his or her learning capabilities and that it is incredibly important to cater to each individual learning level.
I love connecting with my students and watching music "click" for them. I enjoy cultivating a creative spirit in each student. Some students have begun writing their own songs. Watching their minds expand in this area gives me great joy.
