About

I have over 30 years of teaching experience, focused mainly on beginning and intermediate students of all ages.

Learning a musical instrument or participating in group music making, develops more than just musical talent. Critical life skills such as perserverance, patience, diligence and determination are the wonderful by-products of the experience. Seeing my students grow in every way brings me so much joy.

Lesley is patient, and has a delightful personality. She points out my errors in such an encouraging way that it never feels like criticism. Very pleased. I like how she is pacing me as well.

Lesley has been teaching my 2 sons piano for about 6 months and she is fantastic! The boys have learned so much and look forward to going to their weekly lesson as well as practicing! She motivates them with her positive remarks and encouragement that they really are learning to love music and playing the piano!

I began teaching during my gap year between high school and college, and loved it so much that I decided to change my college study plans from pre-med to music! I especially enjoy teaching beginner and intermediate students because the wonder and joy of discovery in those students is so priceless and contagious, it motivates me to want provide the most joy-filled, effective instruction that I can.
I have worked with students of all abilities and ages; from 3 - 73, from those with exceptional ability to those differently abled. Each student is unique and I work to discover how they best connect to their innate musicality.
It is important to find out if you and your prospective teacher are compatible. Take advantage of any “meet and greet” or trial lessons offered. Think about what learning experience you’d most enjoy and communicate your needs clearly. If the lessons are for your child, observe carefully the interaction between the teacher and your child. Be sure that you understand the teachers expectations and studio policies before you sign up for lessons.
1. What is my end goal? 2. How do I learn best? 3. Do I have sufficient time to commit to practice? 4. What genre of music am I most interested in exploring?
