What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Get an understanding of what type of music they like and where their skills and knowledge level are currently. Then begin a plan from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor of Arts degee in Music/Education, Ashland University
Certificate in Vocal Performance from the London College of Music
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lessons for students 5th grade and under are 1/2 hr.
Lessons for middle school, high school and college are an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
Had planned to teach since college. A friend asked me to give lessons to her daughter to help her prep for an audition and I did. She got the part!

Last year during COVID, I created an online showcase for my students so they could perform for family and friends.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure they have studied Vocal Pedagogy and make sure they know how to make lessons fun and instructive.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What they would like to accomplish by taking lessons. Is it for fun or is there a short/long term goal. Make sure you let the teacher know what your goals are.
