Brian Webb Guitar Lessons
About
My teaching approach:
I am a musician interested in teaching students what I love doing - music! I play guitar, drums and I sing (primarily) but I love playing around with music. My teaching approach will differ student-to-student, but I am a very musically flexible person. I'm willing to teach whatever style music your beginner Rock, Country, or Indie star wants to learn, in a fun and enjoyable environment.
My influences are:
I have so many musical influences, from Journey and Boston to Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, and Mumford and Sons to For Today, Oh, Sleeper, A Day to Remember and The Devil Wears Prada, to Death Cab for Cutie, Yellowcard, U2, and the list goes on and on and on...
My guitar lessons take place in:
The student's home
Guitar Lessons with me take place in the following areas:
25 miles from Glen Allen, VA - willing to make exceptions on a case-by-case basis by email/phone.
Guitar Techniques:
Song Writing, Scales and Exercises, Jamming Skills, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance, Improvisation, Rhythm guitar, Lead guitar
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:
In any student's first lesson, I'd ask a student to have their iPod prepared with a few of their favorite songs - or at least to have a list written down with names of songs/artists. We'd talk about their music taste, what they'd like to accomplish in the lessons to come, and then check out their gear. I would then assess whether any other gear/setup would be necessary. We'd talk about the guitar/basic chords and I'd show/teach a couple of chords
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:
I taught myself how to play guitar, and it's been one of the most enjoyable things I've ever done. It's a never-ending process, however, so I'm still learning from people all the time. My lessons would grow out of the idea that the student knows what (s)he wants to learn - I'm just in the room to help them make it happen. If the student wants to learn ____ style music, I'll tailor a lesson plan to help them learn whatever that style may be!
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:
My ideal guitar student is simply someone who has the desire to learn. Previous experience is never necessary, but without the desire to learn, progress will never be made!
