My teaching approach:

I teach beginner to Advanced Music Students with H.M.S. - Harmonic Melodic Sequencing; the fastest track to understanding music theory applications for all westernized instruments; for transposing and writing composition. HMS enables immediate recognition of chord formulas, progressions and melody with simple numeric guidance systems; eliminating the need of complex theory. There is no system that teaches concepts of chord performance at the lightening speed of HMS. Within an hour novice students recognize Major, Minor and Diminished Chords in all 12 keys.

My influences are:

I appreciate an eclectic mix of musical genres; rock, blues, classical, gospel, jazz, country and R&B. For 50 years I’ve been listening to numerous singers and instrumentalist who influenced my art including CSNY, James Taylor, Jim Croce, Eagles, America, Moody Blues, Almond Brothers Dire Straits, Jackson Brown, Gordon Lightfoot, Wilson Pickett, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Stanley Clark, George Winston, Tommy Emanuel, Phil Collins, Brook Benton and Percy Sledge just to name a few of my favorites artists.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

First, I assess their guitar for proper setup to ensure the action is good. I inspect tuners making sure they holds tune. Great guitar setup enables enhanced ability and is easier on the fingers. I audition intermediate students having them play a composition they’re confident with to assess their level of skills to determine strengths, areas for instruction. I define elements of HMS. I determine music they like and acquire practice charts and encourage diversified music study; singing, lyrical prose for songwriting, creating chord progressions and melody composition

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

Half the lesson hour is dedicated to HMS to understand music performance theory and the other half of the hour is used instructing HMS applications for guitar and keyboards.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

I teach Adults, but with children It depends on maturity and approach to learning music. Guitar takes strength to be able to perform. Most children under the age of 9 lack physical ability, though with younger music students it is my suggestion for children to learn language of music with HMS. This course uses an electronic keyboard that is easier to play. In 2 months they learn Major, Minor and Diminished Chords by HMS Chord guidance and fingering skills to practice chord progressions. HMS Music Instruction is basis of language for musical endeavors to apply to any music instrument .
