How did you get started teaching?
I was a concert classical guitarist, a student of Andres Segovia. Came to Richmond, Virginia in 1976 to head the guitar program at Virginia Comonwealth University. Then founded Guitar Works, Inc. in 1978.

Every day is a fond event. We have so many happy customers and students both local and nationwide.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher with many years of experience teaching. A good player is not necessarily a good teacher.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
For most people playing the guitar is for their own enjoyment. Make sure you will be able to have fun learning the guitar.
