Michael is a patient and kind teacher who allows space for a student to grow and progress at their own pace. I am a beginner who is loving playing because Michael challenges me to try new things and encourages me to press on. I feel that I am learning to play guitar with good techniques and solid musicianship. What a blessing to have found his studio and to be his student! Thank you, Michael! 🎶

2016

"I was a student of Michael’s from the time I was 8 years old until I left for college. He has taught me not only how to play guitar very well, but coached me through difficult times in my life. He is a teacher that recognizes potential and will push his students to do their best in everything they do, and will let them know when they aren’t doing enough to improve. Maybe most importantly, he will try and push his students out of their comfort zone when performing in order to help the student realize his or her potential. I consider him a dear friend and mentor."

My son, Eliot, has been a student with Mr Geddes for the last two and a half years.  Not only has he learned and grown as a guitar player, but he has also learned to love the guitar. This is a direct result of Mr. Geddes teaching.  Eliot had never played an instrument or known how to read music before starting guitar lessons, and now, less than three years later, he can play every chord from memory, read music, play melodies and back up, and has learned about composers and music throughout history. Mr. Geddes also helped Eliot gain confidence by inviting him to play in two recitals, as well as encouraging him to play at his school in front of his whole class for Christmas.  Mr. Geddes has repeated gone above and beyond as a teacher, he teaches via Skype online any time we were or he was out of town. He makes learning fun without compromising the education. He is truly a professional and a master at his craft. Eliot loves guitar and will be a player for life.

I recommend Mr. Geddes to anyone looking for a music teacher. He has left such an impression on my son and our family. The JCC would be lucky to have such a teacher.

Sincerely,

Barbara Webber
