Coastal Virginia Karate teaches Old school Okinawan Karate using a new age teaching approach. We have dispenced with the pre WWWII militaristic based training that is so common in other dojos. We believe that "to teach is to learn again." Students work together to learn techniques under the watchful eye of Sensei.
Our teaching process allows our students to grow and develop their Karate. One of the best parts is watching the "Ah Ha Moments" when the training and concepts fall into place. It's like a 1,000 watt light bulb being turned on!

My son (13) and I (36) train together here. Smartest dad move Ive made so far. His confidence is way up and in a week or two his behavior improved in school. Grades improved too. Training is serious and you feel good after. Safety is simply never in doubt. Solid school. Solid instructors. I should have done this years ago.

Sensei Sean has provided a lot of authentic and extremely practical teaching. He can work well with all ages, from adult down to elementary school. He seems to have a knack for keenly identifying strengths and weaknesses in a persons training and state of mind.
