About
Teaching music in a fun progressive way!
I have been teaching for several years now (since 2016) I started out at school of rock virgins beach and decided to shift this career to work independently.
I love teaching because it give me students an opportunity to gain a new skill, hobby, or interest. Sometimes it even changed their whole life approach.
I like to use a combination of traditional theory and new fun exercises to practice when we are learning in each lesson.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I work with a new student first I give them a basic understanding of my process during the lesson, This varies if the student is switching from teacher to teacher or if they were brand new student to the instrument.
I will explain to them that some of the lesson will be focused on the technical aspect or warm up of their instrument, then we will usually focus on a song to demonstrate the fundamentals we practiced.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Throughout life at school, music was my focus.
I've played violin since age 10 and was taught classicaly through school. I have played in various ensembles as an adult, as well as gigs and weddings.
I'm sang my whole life, And dedicated lots of free time to learning more about the voice (and my voice personally)
I intuitively learned to sing on my own but used education from public school teachers, and online to learn how to use my voice and sustain it safely.
I have sung in many local ensembles and perform solo (song write) as well.
With piano I started picking at it at age 7. (Had somewhat of a natural ear)
At age 10, I started teaching myself intuitively by using the skills/fundamentals I learned through violin at school as well as learning by ear.
I attended a local public high school school that had a music academy and tried to Immerse myself with as many music classes as possible.
later in my adult life, I taught at school of rock for four years prior to switching to teach on my own this past year.

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching at School of rock in 2016.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked from ages 3yrs -70yrs
I've worked with a diverse group of kids, teens, young adults, and matured adults.
I have worked with students on various behavioral, and or attention spectrums.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my recent students got into the music college they auditioned for. And I have to say that was all them! (their talent and hard work) but to know I was an aid to their progress felt amazing. It was rewarding to know that I had been a small arrow that helped shift them in that direction. :)
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try anything, you can always walk away.
Find out what teaching methods are best for you and what teacher works best with you.
Know upfront that it's going to take practice and dedication. The more energy you put into it the better the outcome. (Just like with anything!)
Be patient with yourself, and a kind coach to yourself. I will be too!
If you're looking to learn an instrument just for fun and as a hobby that's OK too. Just try new things! :)
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
From a perspective of a student prior to taking lessons;
• What instrument do you want to learn?
• What interested you to take lessons?
• What is your goals? (Advancing, hobby, increase brain function-all the above!?)
from a perspective of students already taking lessons;
I think asking questions should never be anticipated or overthinked, just ask! This is a safe space.
But if anything once a student has really developed an interest in their lessons, they will start to ask themselves all types of questions before asking. My job is yes to aid in progress, but also make the lesson a fun place to get students even more excited to learn, which then provides the confidence to ask themselves and myself questions.
