If you need to learn to play by ear, compose, or read, get ready for a performance, transcribe your compositions to sheet music, we can help in a friendly, professional studio. All students are always happy and successful.They walk out feeling better than when they arrive. All students are taught according to their needs and interests using my own method.
I love absolutely everything about all venues of music but teaching is my passion. I enjoy sharing the mystery and the language of music and I love watching my students grow.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
All lessons are custom designed with Mary's Method. The first step is to determine which program is right for them to ensure success.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 40 years experience teaching, and I have been a professional entertainer for 40 years as well. I have also published my own teaching method.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Generally the fee is based on a one month minimum = Four half hour lessons, materials included. The fee for this is $100 due on the first lesson. I also offer one shot lessons, $50 for an hour, with no ongoing basis, materials included.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching as a little girl because I love teaching and both teaching and music comes natural to me. At age 22 I was offered a job teaching at a music store in Juneau, Alaska.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all ages 3-85, and all levels of students. I am quite successful with all types of learning disabilities.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
To be clear with what the student wants to learn.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Will I learn to read music? Can I learn to play music by ear? Can I learn to jam? Can I learn to improvise? Will I be learning music theory? How much music theory is applied? Will I be required to memorize? Can I study more than one instrument? Can I learn to accompany?
