Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First lesson we get to know each other and what level we start at then I share the big picture and how we will get there, the journey is all that matters since with music learning never ends if you are sincere. First lessons are always so much fun!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended Manhattan School of Music, The Julliard School, Fordham University on a music scholarship, and Loyola University School of Music in New Orleans, as well as University of Pennsylvania- I have BA in Music and and MSEd in education/counseling which combined with years of experience teaching and performing, recording, touring etc gives me a holistic approach to my work.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching when I was 12, giving drum lessons for 50 cents to my local neighborhood kids. Then I taught steel drums in high school at a summer camp and also taught music at several camps and in schools. Began teaching piano, theory, drums and guitar when I was 17 years old. Teaching comes easily to me and I love helping people learn, because music is an extension of the self.
