About
I have 13 years experience teaching piano to students of all ages and experience levels, from young children to adult. I am flexible in building a curriculum that matches a student's musical interests while still teaching important classical music techniques as well as the fundamental building blocks of music: music theory. I use method books as a foundation and build on them with classical, pop, church and other music genres depending on the student's interests and goals. I offer recitals and performance classes in which students practice performing in front of fellow students and review music theory concepts through fun games.
I get energized and excited when I see students pleased with themselves after playing a piece well. It is fun to watch their confidence in their ability and skills grow and their enjoyment of their musicality blossom.
It is gratifying to me to take a student who may know how to read and play notes and rhythms but is lacking the technical skills to play musically with appropriate texture and expression. I love to teach them the skills to transform what they have been playing from mere notes and rhythms to music that expresses emotion and a story.
