Tarik is the best guitar teacher ever! He has taught my son so much over the last few years, and he is always so excited to go to his lesson. Tarik is also very professional and easy to work with. Watching the growth and skills in my son have been amazing, and he has so much fun learning his favorite songs. I would highly recommend him!

Frequently asked questions

I talk with them about their goals, get an idea of their strengths and areas that need work. I work on fundamentals of guitar and select repertoire that will keep them interested.

I Have a B.A. from Central Washington University where I studied jazz and classical guitar. I also have lots of experience performing and recording as a solo artist and in a variety of bands and ensembles. I am always researching new teaching methods, and I regularly take lessons from internationally known artists.
My standard price is $120 per month which is $30 per lesson.
I taught my first lesson when I was 16, I learned how to play "wish you were here" by Pink Floyd and my friend asked me to teach him how to play it :)
I have worked with all types of students, all backgrounds, all musical styles, from ages 5 to 85. I have worked with special needs students, and many of my students have gone on to be professional musicians themselves.
My students have regular performance opportunities, our Summer 2023 performance was a fantastic time! All the students worked very hard and were eager to show off their skills :)
The most important thing is to find a teacher who you feel is a good fit for your personality, and this is subjective. This will inspire you and will have the biggest impact on your success. Ask lots of questions, a teacher should be honest with you about what they are capable of teaching you. Look for credentials and teaching experience, look for examples of a teachers playing. Teachers should also be strong performers. Get a good quality instrument, preferably from a reputable music store. Many cheaper instruments are not functional and will cause a new student to be frustrated.
What style do you want to play? Who are your favorite musical artists? Can you practice every day? Is your instrument in good condition? Are you part of a band or do you have a group of friends you can play with for fun? The list goes on!
