The most enjoyable aspect of teaching music is witnessing my students own "ah-ha" moments: moments where their own personal discoveries becomes meaningful to them and inspires a deeper commitment to their practice.
My job is to create the necessary environment for my students to make their own discoveries which inspire them to ask more questions and seek more answers. My goal as a teacher is to help my students create a practice that they can carry on as they grow as musicians.
The ulimate privilege is in knowing that my students become their own teachers, explorers, and creators of music in a way that is meaningful to them, leaving them with tools to carry on with their practice long after our sessions have expired.

Jason is extremely knowledgeable not just about playing a ukulele (or guitar as well) but he is able to integrate music theory in an easy to comprehend way. He is ever patient with us and always seems to consider our mistakes as an opportunity to promote learning. Although we have focused our learning around an instruction book he is able to supplement the basics in the book with additional ideas, chord changes and, my favorite, finding music that we are interested in learning that is not in the book. Because I am moving I very sadly had my last lesson with Jason today (Jan.8) and I can only hope to find another instructor in my new city who comes close to Jason in knowledge and teaching ability. I just cant recommend Jason enough. Just a top instructor with a great sense of humor as well!

Recommendation for Jason Hogle
Jason is an exceptional ukulele instructor, a gifted teacher. A total beginner to this instrument, I am delighted with how much I have learned in a few months of private lessons under his guidance. Certainly, Jason is a master of the art and is an extremely skilled player himself. He is adept at showing me how to master the challenges I face as my small hands try to manipulate large bar chords, or pluck seemingly recalcitrant strings, and when necessary, he illustrates alternative hand positions that work for me.
Jason communicates well. He explains technique and music theory clearly; he answers all of my questions at a level that I can understand. He is a challenging teacher, always urging one to master more difficult music, but he moves his students along at whatever pace we can handle. He is patient and encouraging; he notices and comments on one’s achievements. He is personable, with a marvelous sense of humor. Above all, these lessons are great fun! Learning to play the ukulele is an enjoyable experience.
Jason Hogle would be an excellent ukulele instructor for any age student—child to senior citizen, whether they have experience with music theory or cannot read music at all. I am pleased to recommend him without hesitation.

Jason can teach a wide variety of skills, and he’ll meet the student where they’re at. He’s taught us to read standard musical notation and guitar tab, as well as how to play without having to look at the page at all. He’ll adjust mid-lesson to our needs and use creative methods to engage a student who may not be feeling like engaging sometimes. He’s kind, empathic, and has a generous spirit. He always prioritizing enjoying music over everything.
I came up in a rigid musical tradition, and it has been so refreshing to have a teacher who prioritizes joy over rote mastery. It’s been awesome.
Also, whatever song we want to learn how to play, he will find a way to adapt it to our skills and teach us new stuff. It’s so cool!
