My teaching approach:

I have been providing pro quality guitar instruction in the Tacoma are since 1997. In the beginning stages my job is to guide the student in building a strong fundamental foundation upon which to build. As the student becomes more advanced then we can specialize in the various style of their choice be it Rock, Jazz, Classical, Blues, etc. Over time, it is desired that students will achieve proficiency in several styles in order to become well-rounded players. I have a degree from the University of Washington and currently am lead guitarist, singer and songwriter in my band Lund Bros.

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:

Monday through Thursday and Saturdays. Times vary depending on the students availability.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

Initially, simply going through the steps of tuning the guitar by ear with them will tell me quite a bit. If they are more advanced, I will quiz them on their theory knowledge and ask them to demonstrate various scales and concepts. Based on their answers, we then decide on method books and various teaching materials.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

Students demonstrate their proficiency in the week's previously assigned material. I provide feedback and potential ways they can improve. Then, new material is covered in depth, with my getting the student's confirmation that they fully understand the concepts and techniques covered.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

One who really wants to be a good guitarist. Desire is the key ingredient.
