To serve your community your family your nation. So in Makoto we aim to teach our students not only to defend themselves in a hostile situation or enviornent. But we also aim to lead a student to self discovery to know thy self. To be sincere to ones belief ones self ones parents to keep your word thru actions. Also to unite the 3 the mind the body and the soul. To free one self from the prison of the mind to let go and be free from all distractions that life throws at you. To become a true scholar Warrior.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Here at Makoto Ryu we work at a students pace and skill level. Always starting with discipline and watching a students intent and discipline on why he or she wants to learn self defense and help them thru there journey. If we sense malice revenge wanting to hurt or fight we start training the student on the art of the non fighting mind Which Aiki means love and harmony and jujitsu the genre way. So we take them down a road of self discovery and try to build them up to be a better product if society and serve their community.
