Jacob Cleveland's Music Lessons
About
I am a multi-instrumentalist and composer with an emphasis on piano. I love teaching improvisation, song-writing, jazz, classical, pop and everything in between.
I went to Indiana University, graduating in 2015 with a degree in Art & Sound Design. I took classes in Jazz, Songwriting, and Music Theory at the Jacob's School of Music. I continued my piano and composition studies at the Seattle Jazz Academy, completing all of my piano certifications in April 2026. I make music for film and multi-media projects in my spare time.
I have been playing and recording music for 17 years, and teaching for 5. I have experience teaching individuals and ensembles of all ages, from beginners to advanced.
I can teach you to read or improve your sight-reading, we can learn by ear, we can learn by rote, and we can learn by being creative. While I am not reinventing the wheel of musical pedagogy, I do think I bring an extended layer of patience, inspiration, and dedication to each lesson.
My core belief is that music lessons should be informative, fun, and transcend the lesson room. It is about challenging oneself to be a little bit better each day, and having fun while you do it. Music learning teaches us so much more than "how to play a song".
Attitude is key, and with that in check, we will get along swimmingly! With effort in the lesson and in your own practice time I truly believe your growth and improvement is inevitable.
