What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always get to know my student first. Learn what type of music they enjoy and want to play and also what skill level they are at and what they want to learn as a guitar player.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 4 years formal training and 20 years teaching experience.

How did you get started teaching?
I got my start teaching at a store called Thunder Island Music in Iron Mountain MI in 1996. My then guitar instructor had recommended me for the open teaching position.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students age 6 to 76, beginning to advanced in just about every style of music.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A personal event was taking my two boys to a Lawrence University football game recently. Was a f beautiful fall day and perfect football weather. We all had a blast.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher that you gel with and that fits your learning style.
