I routinely work with beginners of all ages on the early stages of learning, and I also teach advanced techniques in multiple styles comfortably both in-person and online.
I enjoy witnessing students progress from knowing nothing to becoming functional players in bands, by themselves, in church groups, and in whatever else they decide to do. Correctly targeted personalized instruction, combined with consistent practice will get you continuous positive results over time!

It was four years ago, at the age of 58 , when I decided to take guitar lessons. Because I wanted to learn classical, the staff at Mikes Music recommended I take lessons from Michael Bautz. As a teacher, I found Mike to be professional, extremely talented, dependable, and reasonably priced. Mike offers an easygoing learning style. I was a bit nervous at first, as I had never taken lessons before, but Mike had a way of putting my nerves at ease. I learned so much from Mike that I am now able to pretty much figure out most classical music on my own. After learning the basics and some theory on my classical guitar, I went on to have Mike teach me on my steel string. After a few years of lessons, I can now proudly think of myself as a pretty darn good guitar player!
