About
I teach full-time, because I love music and specifically I love the guitar. It is a wonderful instrument, and I want to share it's wonder with others.
I enjoy watching my students progress. When students put in the work and hit milestones, I get just as excited as they do!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically, I like to assess where a student is starting from. I want to know where they are starting and where they want to go with their playing. This could be for the purpose of playing in the bedroom, open mic, or the desire to play with other musicians!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied privately under a professional session musician with extensive experience in Nashville session work. I also studied Classical Guitar Performance, and Music Theory/Composition in my college years.
I also have many years of stage performance with many bands and acts.

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching when I was still in High School. I taught a few local kids who were interested in the guitar. After college I decided I wanted to teach guitar as my day job!
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages! For my parents of students under the age of 10, understand that lessons for this age group is very limited due to maturity and physical requirements of the instrument. I take ALL students very seriously, and mostly spend a lot of time with the younger ones teaching fundamental music theory, while using the guitar as the FOCUS point of their lessons.
My goal for all younger students is for them to learn how to read music. Music is a language and life skill for the young student.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Any instance where I have successfully taught a child to read music, or helped an older student fulfill a lifelong dream of playing the guitar.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't be afraid to ask questions. A lot of people contact me worried they are asking dumb questions. You are here to learn, and I am here to teach. Ask away!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Consider what genres you are interested in learning. Consider whether being able to read Notation is important to you, or if Tablature will be enough.
