About
My lessons are customized to each player's abilities, musical taste and interests. I teach everything from beginner chords, simple strums to advanced lead playing. I like to keep it fun and always develop a personal relationship with all of my students.
I've been playing guitar for over 40 years professionally and have taught guitar for almost as long.

I love seeing the smiles on my students faces when they learn something that they love. It's very satisfying to see the progress that my students make each week. Plus I love playing guitar and really enjoy teaching.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to find out what their musical interests are so that I can make sure to be teaching songs or styles that they like. Some of my students need help finding a guitar to purchase and I can help with that as well.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My Dad is a guitarist and he started teaching me when I was really young. A few years into playing guitar I was being paid to teach other students from school. I signed my first record deal when I was 19 years old and worked with world famous record producers and toured the world with my band Last Crack. I've also worked in music sales at one of the largest retailers in my area. Currently, I own a recording studio and produce bands which I've done for the last 25 years as well as being a member of three successful bands.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I teach one one hour lessons for $40 per lesson. I also do half hour lessons for $25 per lesson.
How did you get started teaching?
A few years into playing guitar I started teaching other students from school. It was was one of my first paying jobs and I've continued to do it over the years because I enjoy it.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've taught everyone from absolute beginners to professional players. I've had students that practiced like crazy and some that didn't practice much at all. I think I'm able to work with all types of personalities very well.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Playing with my band on stage at huge music venue, The Sylvee, in my hometown opening for some national bands in front of a huge crowd. It's where I belong and feel most at home.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try to find not only a good and experienced teacher but also someone that you gel with well personally that understands what you are wanting to learn.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The biggest ones would be "what are you looking to get out of this?" "What would be the most satisfying things to learn for you?"
