About

I have been teaching piano for many years (most of it in Madison and Verona--out of our home). I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Marion University in Fond du lac, Wisconsin in 1987. I teach all ages from beginner to intermediate. I hold two recitals each year for my students under 18--Spring (May) and Holiday (December). I also encourage these students to participate in the annual Junior Festival, where students play a required piece and a choice piece consistent with their ability, which they memorize and play for a judge. Almost all of my students who choose to do this receive a "Superior" (the highest rating).

FYI--we do have a cat.

I enjoy teaching all ages, including adults. I especially enjoy teaching younger students and instilling in them a love for music and the piano. I do my best to make the lessons fun as well as educational! When a student has done well on a piece they have practiced in lessons and at home, I give them a choice of a sticker to put on the page of music they have mastered.

I also enjoy teaching adults as they are able to proceed at a faster pace and play more challenging music.

After taking a break from piano for some years, I returned to classes. Ive been taking remote lessons with Luanne for close to a year now. She is an excellent teacher who will make sure youre playing all the right notes, getting the right rhythm, and learning theory. It has been a lot of fun to work with her, and I feel that I am seeing lots of improvement. She is thorough, kind, and a very talented teacher. I highly, highly recommend her! I am excited to continue learning, continue learning from Luanne, and continue learning how to play such a wonderful instrument.
For those wondering how zoom lessons work, you just make sure you get the settings right and youre ready to learn!
Thank you for everything, Luanne! Im off to practice!

My twins take lessons from Luanne. She has taken the time to understand their unique abilities and talents. She is interested in their day to day activities not just their piano skills. I love that she organizes 2 recitals giving students an opportunity to perform.

Luanne has been teaching two of my children for several years. She is extremely patient and kind, and willing to work with any level student. Luanne is able to work with children with disabilities. She helps her students choose music that they are interested it. My children look forward to their lessons with Luanne. She organizes recitals for her students and other opportunities for them to perform.

    Frequently asked questions

I get to know the student a little bit first; his/her likes and

dislikes, background and such.  I start the student with the

lesson book, and then the technique and theory book.  I

assign material for the student to work on for a week at

a time. I keep the lesson fun and interesting.

I have a bachelors of science degree in music education, that

I obtained from Marion University, located in Fond du Lac, WI

in December of 1987.  I have taught piano lessons for over

    30 years.

I charge $22.00 for a half hour lesson, once a week,

    $33.00 for a 45-minute lesson, and $44.00 for a 60-minute lesson  I teach lessons in my home

    or VIRTUALLY via Zoom.

I started teaching when I was married to my former husband

in Brandon, WI.  When I moved to Madison, WI, I started

teaching after I was married to my husband of 29 years (and

counting).  I started teaching piano lessons because of my

love for music, and I enjoy teaching one-on-one.

I have worked with a student with autism, and one with ADHD.

I have worked with students as young as young as 5 years old

and above.  I have worked with adults for a long time as well.

Most of my students are under 18.

The most recent event I have worked with is the Junior Festival, which is held the second Sunday in February.  All of my students who participated received a superior rating, which is the most a student can receive.  One of my students received a gold cup, after having gotten five points three years in a row.

Look for someone who has got a degree in music, and for

someone who has been teaching piano for a while.  Make

sure that they have experience with the age of your children

    or adults.

For younger children, parents need to make sure that the

child or children can sit through a half hour lesson.  Make

sure that they are able to read.  Look for someone who is

interested in getting to know your child's likes and dislikes.

That also applies to students who are adults.
