How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching music 20 years ago by simply telling people I am a music teacher of piano and voice.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with a diverse group of students of all ages and ethnic background. I teach preschool music for ages 1-5 and my oldest student is 72 years old. My students have none to extensive training background in music.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am fond of my students competing in various festivals such as the Boykin Piano Festival and the Music Federation Club Festival. Also, my students prepare for at least a 1 hour concert/recital each year. Recently, my 14 year old student, Venus, just had a pop vocal music concert that featured all her favorite artists and songs. She invited all her friends and ate popcorn and pizza. To end the fun night of music, we had Karaoke. So much fun!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Always know exactly what you want to achieve when taking music lessons. This will allow you to find the right music teacher to fit your needs.
