Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first step is always assessing your goals, current abilities, and limitations. I then customize a plan to help you reach those in a periodized, systematic manner.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over 20 years of martial arts experience and coaching. I trained under several world renown martial artists, including when I spent 9 months in Korea training with and instructing for 1988 Olympic Bronze Medalist Seo Sung-Kyo
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

How did you get started teaching?
The martial arts have been a life change, transformative experience for me. I started training martial arts and combat sports at 11 years old. I got my first degree black belt in 2002, and instructor certification in 2008. That winter, I went to South Korea for 9 months to train at a cultural center of martial arts.
I have a passion for helping my clients and students overcome their obstacles. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing the light in your eyes as you meet a major milestone.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages, physical abilities, disabilities, and goals.
I have worked with children as young as 3 years old, and adults up into their 60's.
I have worked with students with challenges including ADHD, depression, autism, cerebral palsy, and amputations.
I have worked with students whose goals range from getting in shape, learning self defense, relieving stress, and competitive sport.
Let me know where you want to go with your training, and I'll help you get there.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The most recent Olympic games were an inspiration in athletic achievement, determination, sportsmanship and personal achievement.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't go for a cookie cutter program. This is not one-size fits all.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do you want to get out of this training? Do you have any injuries we will need to work around?
