Let me say this to you out there about my friend Bill Burnett.

I have found Bill to be one of the most unique, creative, innovative and inspirational song writers of my life.

I put him up there in the class of some of the great American song writers of our time such as Cat Stevens, Bruce Cockburn, Harry Chapin, Don Mc Clean, Donavan, Seals and Croft....etc.

I first came to know and admire Bill some years ago when my eldest son (age 13 at the time) and I (age 51) decided to take his small group songwriting class. I was struggling myself with guitar lessons but somehow Bill unlocked an entirely new pathway into music for me. We listened to a wide variety of music pieces and, through Bills gentle manner, genuine enthusiasm and penetrating insights, we really learned to deconstruct each song and extract the elements of color, tone, cadence, structure, theme, rhythm, hooks, phrasing and how to join words and music together for a powerful emotional experience. This was a peek behind the Wizard of Oz curtain that proved essential to me as the parent of two sons now entering the professional music world. I am so grateful for Bills assistance to our sons (as friend, coach/mentor, contributing songwriter, and on-stage co-performer) for these many years as he opened up to them many musical career options. if you are the parent of a young person taking songwriting or music lessons from Bill, seriously consider joining the class yourself. What a blessing it has been to our family!
