About

I've been teaching fun, personalized guitar lessons to kids and adults since 2011. Learning an instrument is an investment of time, energy and money and I have the experience, and passion for teaching to guide you or your child on your musical journey! I studied guitar at Berklee College of Music and have years of experience teaching private lessons, rock band class, music theory workshops and songwriting clinics. I enjoy teaching acoustic and electric guitar in the styles of rock, classic rock, heavy metal and pop and can help you learn music theory, ear training, improvisation and soloing, songwriting and basic music production.

My advanced students seek me out to improve their knowledge of the fretboard. I love teaching music theory, scales, arpeggios, ear training and improvisation. I love making customized exercises and materials for my students that can cover any technique.

My beginner students will enjoy my enthusiasm and patience. It’s not always easy in the beginning and I love coaching and encouraging my students to stick with it and reach their goals.

I love guitar and look forward to being your next teacher!

The thing I enjoy most about teaching is that I get to help my students acomplish something that is very important to them. Learning music is not always easy and guiding someone through those challenges so that they can achieve something they have always wanted is incredibly rewarding and I truely love it.

I also gravitated towards teaching becuase I genuinly enjoy meeting and connecting with new people. My students help me grow and continue to learn and think about music in new ways.

She’s an extremely positive teacher and breaks down music so I can understand it. She doesn’t teach from a book but teaches songs that I want to play. I would totally recommend her to anyone wanting to play.

Steph is an incredibly dynamic, fun, knowledgable and thorough teacher. She taught our 13 year old son. She followed his passion in terms of music choice, but also introduced him to other bands she though he would resonate with. Steph also permeated her lessons with music theory, note reading, and important skills that he didnt even know he needed. We were impressed with the depth of the knowledge he gained about his instrument. Stephs energy is amazing, and she pushed my son to work hard and consistently challenge himself, while making every lesson a celebration of his success. I can not say enough about Steph--we were heartbroken when she moved!

She is patient, encouraging and challenges you to achieve more growth as a musician. She teaches two of my sons at two different levels of experience and her lessons are perfectly geared to each one. She has been teaching my oldest son since he first picked up at guitar at the age of 8. Over the last 7 years she has evolved his lessons to match his skill set. Both boys look forward to her lesson every week!

Frequently asked questions

First I get to know my students personality and goals so that I can plan thoughtful lessons with music they enjoy.

I've been playing since I was 9 years old! I studied classical, jazz, blues and rock guitar in highschool and even fronted my own funk rock band.

Then, I studied for 5 years at Berklee College of music in Boston, majoring in Guitar Performance and Professional Music. After Berklee, I gigged and toured regularly with my progressive metal band, Protean Collective, and began teaching professionally.

As a teacher in Boston I had 20-25 private students weekly and also was a rock band coach, songwriting clinician and taught music theory and soloing and improvisation workshops. I've worked with hundreds of kids and adults and have had many students go on to study at the college level!

I began teaching after college to support myself while I wrote, recorded and toured with my band. Teaching quickly evolved into a passion and I've been doing it as my full time job ever since!

I've worked with kids as young as 6 and adults as old as 70! I also have experiece with group classes and workshops and I have also been a teen rock band coach.

Ask yourself why you want to play guitar. This is very helpful for the teacher you hire if you can define your goals and motivation.
