About
At JnK Music Lessons, students will enjoy one-on-one instruction with the experienced performer musician, James Nobriga, as their own private instructor.
Lessons will focus on learning to play an instrument with confidence, playing songs that interest the student and build fundamental skills, learning music theory that applies to the student's situation, percussion section and drumline individual coaching, learning how to perform with other musicians in a band, and composing their own original songs, depending on the student's interests or situation.
As a musical director for over 10 years, and a performer on Guitar, Piano, Bass, Marching Percussion, Symphonic Percussion, and Drum Set for over 25 years, James Nobriga has the experience to take your playing to the next level. His specific performing experience includes Worship Bands, Jazz Combos, Pop-Rock Bands, Blues Bands, Symphonic Bands, Marching Bands and is currently in an internationally performing Beach Boy Tribute Band and an original band he and his wife formed called 'Changing Names'. They both collaborate to compose music for this band that has music videos on You Tube and albums available in stores online.
James earned his Bachelors of Music degree from San Jose State University in 2001, where he studied percussion
under Anthony Cirone, author of the very popular 'Portraits in Rhythm', and marched in the Spartan Marching Band under the direction of Scott Pierson for over 4 years. James was recruited with a scholarship to play with the pep band and Marching Band at SJSU out of his high school, Milpitas High, where he had also marched for 4 years and earned awards and accolades, including the Louis Armstrong award for Jazz drumming and a spot in the Santa Clara county honor band.
In 2007, James was hired as the musical director for the contemporary worship band at Calvary Church of Los Gatos. This same year, he opened his first lesson studio in the same location, and continued directing and teaching there until 2018 when he and his wife moved to relocate the lesson studio to the Revival Center Church's building in Clovis, CA.
I am passionate about creating music, performing music and seeing students succeed in learning how to play an instrument and make music on their own!
