Ryan Studer Music Lessons
About
Ryan is an experienced multi-instrumentalist and music teacher with over 15 years of experience, both online and in person. He studied at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), where he earned a BFA in Music Composition. At CalArts, Ryan explored experimental approaches to instrumental performance, pushing the boundaries of how instruments are "meant" to be played. His studies ranged from prepared piano (where everyday objects are placed on or between the piano strings), to composing pieces with cent deviations (a technique that explores pitches between the notes of the standard Western tuning system).
Today, Ryan continues to share his passion for music through private lessons. He converted his home into a private teaching studio, where he works with students of all ages. He loves sharing his passion for music with his students while helping them discover their own voice and develop a deeper understanding of what makes music meaningful. To him, interpreting a piece of music goes beyond reading the sheet music in front of you.
Ryan’s performance credits include appearances at venues such as Walt Disney Concert Hall, NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts, and the Grammy Awards. He also records freelance work for composers and music libraries, such as Sonoton.
