What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I teach by note, chord and ear...there's a lot of ways to get from point A to point B ..use traditional methods, chords, improv...I have students from 6 to 86 !!!

Private study with 3 legends...Don Haas and Smith Dobson in the Bay Area and Larry Muhoberac in LA...and have been pro musician since age 17...

How did you get started teaching?
Started at 16...had a very supportive teacher from when I was a beginner...Ran teaching department at Pianos Plus Yamaha for 10 years, also taught Curtis School of Music, others...

Wow...about all kinds...rock stars to 6 year olds...to 80 year olds....

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Unless you want to just read notes and play songs that sound like a million other people, I say find a pro player to show you all the little things that make the music yours !!! and way more fun than just playing out of a book...

Experience, matching up their musical likes with the right teacher...it's matching the personalities...
