Lessons With Vanessa

Hi students/Hola estudiantes!

My name is Vanessa and I have been a tutor and instructor for 10+ years! I graduated from Diablo Valley College in 2011 with a Certificate in Spanish and from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor's in Public Health. I grew up speaking Spanish at home with my mom who is a native speaker and fell in love with the language! Since my senior year of high school I have realized that I love to teach students of all ages! Specifically, I love to help students gain self-confidence to achieve their academic goals and form a passion for learning. My tutoring style is geared specifically to YOU! When teaching Spanish and several other subjects I like to include music/dance choreography as a fun way to learn the subject matter as I am also a piano and voice teacher! I have incorporated this learning style with students both one on one and in small/large group settings ( even online) and it has proven very effective! Although we would be working online for the time being (due to California's shelter in place mandate for COVID-19), rest assured that I will make our sessions very engaging and suitable to your learning style.

I have worked for several tutoring agencies including Club Z In Home Tutoring, Genius Kids, and privately as well. I have been teaching subjects such as English, writing, ESL, Spanish, math (up until Algebra I and Geometry), piano and voice lessons for 10+ years. I have had the privilege to teach both privately (one-on-one), small groups, large groups, and even online for ages 5-65. Fun fact: my oldest piano student is a mom and her son takes lessons from me too!
