About this pro

I am a musician with over 30 years of experience, and I will teach you not only techniques of playing but also the interaction of sound and dynamics within the song, as well as the musical understanding of the theoretical part.

As a producer and songwriter I understand the role of instruments in a band and song setting. You may want to learn how to accompany yourself as a singer, I will help you with that! We will find out what bass lines or electric guitar patterns will enhance the sound and feel of a song.

I have recorded and produced two original CDs and am also working as a producer for other artists.

I love showing people how easy it is to have quick successes in guitar playing, playing a first song etc. I love to give each student songs he or she likes to play, and it is such a reward to see my students realize they can actually play their favorite songs!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I tailor all lessons to the needs and qualification of the student. If you are a beginner, I will help you understand the instrument and make it easy for you to feel comfortable on it. If you have some experience I will integrate what you already know and go from there, instead of repeating unnecessary material. I will though help you get rid of bad habits, should you have some :-)

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am self taught on Acoustic and Electric Guitar, as well as Bass. Which means I know the ins and outs of music theory, know how to listen to and feel the instrument and song. Althought I know how music works, I will not be able to teach you how to read music. Our tool will be TABs and Chord Sheets.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I charge $30 per half hour, $60 per full hour. Should I travel to your home I will charge an additional $1 per mile and lesson. Please visit my website for group rates!

I accept cancellations at least 24 hours before the next scheduled class.

You pay per day and lesson.

How did you get started teaching?

As a playing musician I got approached by a private music school in Germany, asking if I wanted to join their team. This was a little over 10 years ago.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with kids and adults, with musicians and those who have never in their life held an instrument in their hands.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I think Girls Rock in Santa Barbara and the JAMS Music school are amazing!

On a personal matter, I get excited about a CD project I am producing right now for a singer/songwriter here in SB.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Look for someone you like! The chemistry  between student and teacher is very important. As a girl you might prefer a girl teacher. Also, check out the range of experience the teacher has. Not only as a teacher, but also as a playing musician.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

How much practice at home will be involved?

What if I have to cancel a class?

What are your goals as a student? E.g. Would you like to be able to play your first song as quickly as possible, or you would like to integrate the music theory side with the playing part right away?
