About
Hello there, my name is Ky Court, I have been a musician for 10+ years and am currently in Austin, TX. I play professionally in a band called Let Flo Go. Check out our work on Instagram, Facebook, Spotify, Apple Music, etc. I also teach music at a preschool in the area.
Music is my passion, and my goal as a teacher is to pass that passion on. I teach all ages- kiddos learning how to spell their ABC's and adults wanting to get in touch with their musical side!
I work on tailoring each lesson to the individual student as not everyone learns the same. Music is such a powerful entity, and the amount of joy or frustration it brings can be a complicated balance, especially when learning music. Passing on the joy that music has blessed me with is by far the greatest thing about teaching music.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Getting to know what a student is comfortable with is always so important! Especially when teaching singing, it can be nerve-wracking or seem embarrassing to sing in front of a stranger, so my first goal is to no longer be such a stranger and make the student feel comfortable with me, and also comfortable with messing up and trying again!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've taken music classes during college, but my experience comes from performing and lessons with teachers like myself. I have been playing music for over ten years now, with teaching being about 4 of those years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing for my lessons is normally like this:
$50 for 45 minutes, in person if you come to me or online.
$40 for 30 minutes, in person if you come to me or online.
$20 for 20 minutes, only available online.
Hour lessons are available for those with multiple children wanting lessons.
Depending on where you live, I charge an extra $3-$5 to come to my students!
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching when one of my parent's friends asked if I would be interested in teaching! After I started, I realized I absolutely loved working with kids and encouraging them in something I have been so passionate about. There is simply nothing else I would rather do than have my life be surrounded by the joy of music.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with lots of different students. I currently have a student who just turned 4, and I'm teaching her the alphabet as we learn the musical scale and play the ukulele. One of my singing students is 3 and we work together on implementing healthy vocal habits early, and learning how to properly pronounce words! I've worked with teenagers and with many adults looking to rekindle or start developing their vocal talent!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher that makes you excited to continue to learn music. This has always been so important to me! A teacher that can respect your own pace of learning and just how far you can be pushed outside of your comfort zone while still making sure you are having fun!
