Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first lesson with a new student consists of determining their vocal range (or musical aptitude on guitar or bass.) I start with a few exercises to increase strength and control breathing. I ask the student to suggest 5 songs they want to learn. Within the next 3 lessons, we rate the progress of range and strength as we approach each song in the appropriate key, which is not always the original key!!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been performing for 40 years. I am completely self taught with no formal training. This is sometimes a plus, as my experience is based on 40 years of being a full time musician. I teach from the perspective of real world experience in the music business. My students respond well to this approach.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
