Candice says, "I have been training with Cheryl for a little over 2 years however have been involved in aerial for 5 years. Cheryl’s knowledge and encouragement have helped me improve leaps and bounds! Moves I struggled with are now second nature. Cheryl also trains my son, who’s 9. The days we train with Cheryl are his favorite. My sons aerial training has helped him excel in his other sports (baseball and tennis). The strength and conditioning he receives in aerial gives him an edge above others. Highly recommend! I always leave feeling better then I did when I walked in!" Read more

Your Yoga Classes questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.com.

How much do yoga classes cost?

Single group sessions at yoga studios cost $15 to $20 on average. For private yoga training, you will likely spend between $30 and $70 on each lesson. Yoga classes mostly take place in a group setting, and the price per class depends on the location, yoga teacher’s knowledge and experience, and years of teaching.

How long is a yoga class?

On average, a yoga class is 75 to 90 minutes long. Many instructors say 90 minutes is simply how long it takes to pace through all the sacred yoga asanas, but a new shorter 60 minute class is quickly becoming popular with students.

What to wear to yoga class?

Most women prefer to wear tank tops or a sports bra that's made of a cotton and lycra (spandex) blend when they do yoga. Loose tee shirts and underwire bras are usually a no-no because they have a tendency to get in the way of movement.

For the bottoms, most women prefer to wear tights. These comfortable and stretchable pants will provide you with a full range of movement and allow your instructor to check your alignment. For slower-paced classes, you may be able to pull off wearing long skirts or stretchable harlem pants.

What to bring to yoga class?

Although many necessities are usually provided for you, there are a few things you may still want to bring yourself.

Here's what to bring to yoga class:

  1. Comfortable yoga attire
  2. Water bottle
  3. Hand towel
  4. Yoga mat
  5. Change of clothes
  6. Post-yoga snack

How often should you do yoga?

For those who are already quite active, doing yoga at least once or twice per week is recommended. For experienced practitioners, doing yoga every day is not uncommon. However, if you begin to be sore, consider taking a day or two off. Even if you only do you for one hour a week, you will experience the benefits of the practice.

How long does it take to get good at yoga?

There are many beginner yoga poses and sequences that you can get good at in your first yoga class. On a more spiritual level, it may take a lifetime to find the union between mind, body and spirit. You should expect to practice regularly for about six months before you feel confident that you can perform fundamental poses steadily and with some degree of proper form.

Reviews for Thousand Oaks yoga studios

Recent success stories from people in the Thousand Oaks area.
Evgeniya D.
practiced yoga with Sophia for a long time, and I can confidently say that she is a highly professional and dedicated teacher. Her classes were always well-structured, thoughtful, and safe. Sophia has deep knowledge of yoga and body mechanics, and she explains poses clearly, with great attention to proper alignment and breathing. I especially appreciated her individual approach — she carefully observed each student, offered gentle corrections, and adapted poses when needed. The atmosphere in her classes was calm, supportive, and inspiring. After each session, I felt relaxed, balanced, and physically stronger. Over time, I noticed real improvements in my flexibility, posture, and overall well-being. For me, practicing with Sophia was more than just exercise — it was a meaningful and beneficial yoga experience. I truly enjoyed every class and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a professional, attentive, and inspiring yoga teacher.
