I am senior in the Univeristy of Southern California's Thornton School of Music Studio / Jazz Guitar program. I have studied guitar for over 10 years and am well versed in all styles and genres of music including rock, pop, funk, jazz, classical, metal and many more. I teach musicians of all levels from beginner to advanced students and love working with children.
Dylan is a terrific and brilliant guy who plays professionally in the LA area in addition to being a student--you will rarely find a better person and he is a very good teacher!
Dylan is by far one of the best guitar teachers I've ever had. I haven't been playing guitar for very long and most of the teachers I've had mad me feel rushed when it came to trying to master the basics. Dylan however was so easy to work with and didn't make make me feel pressured to learn everything on the dot. He took the time to work with me and made me the center of his attention for the entire lesson. I felt like I had more improvement with myself as a player under his instruction than with my previous teachers.
Great teacher, easy to work with. Got a weird soundcloud though. Would still highly recommend.
I start by asking the student what their favorite kind of music is and what musical concepts / songs they want to learn / accomplish. I also have many instructional guitar books that I believe are great to work with begginer guitar students to help visualize the guitar neck and concepts easier. With more advanced students I like to work on musical conepts by playing with them in a duo setting to understand how they play and how they can improve their unique sound.
I am a student at the Univeristy of Southern California's Thornton School of Studio / Jazz Guitar Program. I have also performed extensively at clubs and events throughout Los Angeles as well as the San Francisco Bay Area. Some venues include the Whiskey A Go Go and San Francisco's Bay To Breakers event to where I performed in front of 15,000 people. I have also studied with some of Los Angeles's best musicians while at USC including Richard Smith, Frank Potenza, Nick Stoubis, Steve Trovato and Alphonso Johnson
$40 per hour for private instruction
$30 each per hour for group lessons
In higih school I taught summer camps at a music program called the San Francisco Rock Project where I helped younger musicians perform in a group setting with eachother.
I now volunteer at elementary schools for younger musicians in North Hollywood as well as Anton Elementary.
All ages ranging from elementary school students just picking up the guitar for the first time to college music students
Be open to many possibilities and genres of music as they can compliment eachother to help improve your own playing and sound
What do you want to accomplish from these lessons? Are there specific songs or styles of music you want to learn? I want to be able to tailor my lessons specifcially towards the student.
