About

I am a highly trained, very experienced and versatile teacher and performer. My approach is systematic in content and curriculum yet flexible and personal. I believe in being positive and supportive while still challenging students to do their very best. I have had great success with students who have trained with me going. Some have gone on to UCLA and Berklee Schools of Music. Others are engaged in successful careers in theater, television and recording. When it comes to Spanish, all my students have achieved A's after tutoring with me.

You can check out my TakeLessons.com profile for details as well as five star letters of recommendation and appreciation !

Working with people and seeing them enjoy success and getting closer to their goals. I also enjoy finding just the right way to get a lesson across with the student😀

    Frequently asked questions

I like to find out what the student wants to achieve! I adapt my curriculum to reach those goals.  I provide written, recorded and visual materials study and practice.  In addition, I try to arrange recitals for families and friends of all my students and other opportunities to perform in front of live audiences.

I am educated at the University of San Diego in liberal arts with a minor in music. I also trained privately with Guitar, piano, voice and ukulele lessons and have been teaching full-time for the last eight years,  both individual and class lessons🎹🎙🎸🎼😎  I have performed live and recorded sessions as a guitarist and vocalist from my earliest youth and still do so today.

My standard pricing is $30 for 30 minutes $40 for 45 minutes and $50 for 60 minutes.

I got started teaching with Day Jams in La Jolla as a voice instructor.  As a member of a team of instructors we helped young people form bands and write a song. Then after a week they performed together.  My voice students wrote all the lyrics and fronted all the bands!  Following that experience some of the students wanted to continue taking lessons with me privately and the rest is history.  Incidentally, I have BA, Masters and completed the Chapman University California Teacher Certification Program.  I am a trained teacher and taught full time at Mercy High School.  I headed the theater and choral arts departments as well as Algebra and World History.

I have worked with beginners through advanced as well as professional artists. I have received specialized training to work with special-needs students.  I am also Spanish bilingual and speak and sing Latino Music. I am happy to work with solo and group artists😎

I recently coordinated the performance of 10 different artistic groups as well as performing myself for a toy and food giveaway at Golden Hall in San Diego for the San Diego Coalition for the homeless !!  That was a very rewarding experience!

It is important to hire a teacher that knows how to teach you how to play the instrument you want to play not just somebody who can play it or who can sing, rather one who has the teaching skills and experience to help you to play the instrument yourself

What are my goals and aspirations? Can I organize my time  so that I can learn a new instrument? Can this teacher help me develop practice routines and motivate me to practice?  How will I prepare best for a performance?
