My teaching approach:

I teach based on the students interest and direction they seek. I've had many many years of teaching experience to draw from and I have always been very goal oriented in my approach. I work with beginners to advanced players... All aspects of playing are discussed; Music Theory, Ear Training, Rhythm, Leads, even down to the right equipment... A completion of our goals is emphasized for the best outcome, I want you to own it..;-)

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

In the first lesson, I typically try understand the reason they wish to play (for someone starting I would like to know who they are most interested in - i.e influences, styles, etc .. More advance players are usually looking to learn particular techniques, or a specific style..). My main focus is to lay down the ground work and start with work that can be a simple goal for a beginner or something much more challenging if the player is ready for this - it all depends on the students level.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

I teach every student based on their level and focus on the things that need the most work. This is to ensure we are leaving each lesson with the maximum amount of work to push forward and make real progress.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

My ideal student is anyone who loves music and can find some time to practice during the week between lessons... All you have to do is play on a fairly consistent basis and we will get there ..;-)
