Mandolin Lessons With John Seltzer

I’ve basically spent my whole life figuring out music by playing it, listening to it, and getting around as many great musicians as I can. I play mandolin, guitar, and fiddle professionally with Water Tower, touring around the country, playing major festivals and shows for thousands of people, and reaching millions more through our videos online. I’ve worked with artists Sierra Ferrell, Nick Hexum of 311, and Mike Herrera of MxPx, and bluegrass legends. Teaching has always been one of the most rewarding parts of music for me. I’ve worked with students at different levels and really enjoy figuring out what makes things click for each person, whether that means learning by ear, breaking down a favorite song, understanding rhythm and harmony, or just getting comfortable enough with the instrument to have fun playing it. There’s nothing better than seeing someone go from feeling stuck or intimidated to realizing they can actually play, improvise, and make music on their own.
