We love the moment when something clicks for a student. To watch them overcoming obstacles and feeling the pride of accomplishment. Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We love to give you a FREE introductory lesson so you can tour the facility, ask any questions and learn more about our program. It also gives us a chance to see how well you will fit into our accelerated program.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All instructors at Flourish are highly trained in music and have lots of teaching and playing experience! Many of our instructors have Master's degrees or higher in Music.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
We offer a variety of lesson packages, charged at a monthly tuition rate (based on length and type of lesson). This tuition gives you everything in our lesson package! No extra hidden fees!
How did you get started teaching?
Music is our lives so we have been doing this as long as we can remember! Most of our teachers started teaching lessons during and or right after college.
What types of students have you worked with?
We have worked with students of all ages and levels, from brand new beginners, whether 6 or 60 to advanced students with the potential to study music as a career.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
As an example of how our students make progress faster: One of our brand new 7 yr-old piano students won the elementary division of the local music competition ONLY 5 months after starting lessons! He continues to excel in his music reading and playing skills, as well as writing his own music. Another story we are fond of is of two 12 yr-old voice students who became fast friends through Flourish's program. When one of them was struggling with her desire to continue singing, she kept at it because of the community at Flourish. A couple months later her love for singing returned and now she is doing better than ever!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for instructors with qualifications as well as experience in teaching. Talk with current students to see what their experience has been with the instructor. Finally, meet the instructor to see how friendly and engaging he/she is; music study is a long-term process and you want to study with someone you like!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are your long and/or short term goals in studying music? What are your fears or concerns with starting music lessons?
