About
I have been teaching guitar for over 20 years and have loved every second of it. I believe that having fun and learning guitar go hand in hand. I want to make sure that all my students learn the basic fundamentals of music as it applies to guitar while having a good time. Whether you want to learn to play a few songs around the campfire or become a professional guitar player, I can give you the tools to do whatever you want with the guitar.
My students have ranged from 4 years old to 84 years old, from never playing an instrument to being a professional musician looking to learn something new. Many of my students have received scholarships for school and have pursued careers in music. My greatest achievement as a guitar instructor has been the lifelong friendships that have been created with my students and staying in contact with them. Seeing that, even years after they stopped taking lessons, they are still playing guitar.
I started playing guitar at 11 years old. Coming from a family of musicians, music was a major part of my life. I spent most of my teen years studying the instrument and learning multiple styles while playing in different bands. At 17, I began teaching private students. I loved sharing what I knew and watching the joy it would bring my students.
I attended Western Connecticut State University as a music major. I continued to teach and gig in different bands through my college years. After college, I began my full-time career as a musician and haven’t looked back since. I have had the pleasure of recording two albums. The first was with Chenaniah, a popular local Christian Rock and Soul Group, on their debut album “It’s Him You’re Looking For.” The second was with The Randi Erickson Project, a jazz fusion, funk trio, there debut album “A Savory Blend”

When working with a brand new student, I try and determine their learning style, everyone learns differently and a good teacher must be able to adapt to their student.

I was 17 years old, and several of my friends expressed interest in learning, I started teaching them and really enjoyed it and contiuned on from there.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students ranging in age from 4 to 84, from basic beginners to experienced musicians, looking to learn something different.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure they know how to have fun and spend the lesson teaching you, not showing you how good they are. Alot of great players are not great instructors.

Are you patient? and Is it you're way or the highway?
