Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
GUITAR: Begin with a conversation about music and different genres and styles to understand the level and direction desired. From there, dive right in with a solid working of chords, scales and rhythmic patterns.
FRENCH: Starting with a casual conversation is best. Talk about goals, about what you want to achieve. Speak in French for a while to see what level we are at and get an idea of what needs to be worked on. From there build a conversational interest, picking topics that interest you, and introducing vocabulary and expressions and grammar in French related to the topic.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
GUITAR: Have been playing for many years now, acoustic and electric. Experience touring with a band, recording in studio, performing live, songwriting.
FRENCH: K-12 in the French system. Lived in France as a child and my parents put me in the French school (brilliant idea!). Graduated from the Lycée Français de New York. Lived in Montreal for 10 years. Have translated websites into French, have taught French, and worked the last 7 years for a French wine importer, speaking and emailing with our winemakers in France every day.
