Personal instruction in small group classes (maximum 8 students) emphasis on alignment & balance.
Props provided for assistance in poses that present difficulty (chairs, blocks, bolsters, etc)
Students are providing the opportunity for me to do the purposeful work of restoration of their health & wellbeing (and mine!).
The Very Near Yoga Studio was established in Wilmington DE in 1998 with an inspiration & guidance from BKS Iyengar and his senior teachers. I have the Yoga Alliance "Experienced 500 hour Teacher" status and have been teaching continuously since 1995.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Asking about general health & individual goals that pertain to yoga as therapy.
Student's previous experience is inquired about but made clear that the process is always a new beginning that will be about a 3 year period of self inquiry before moving beyond "beginner level".
As our classes involve the use of props, the new student will not have to worry about their lack of balance or flexibility & might begin with "chair" yoga poses.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Continuing education includes workshop level professional trainings with senior teachers from the IYNAUS (Iyengar Yoga Association of the United States).

All classes: $22 for 90 minutes+
8 week Series is recommended
Drop-in classes only for continuing students
Private instruction: $90/90 minutes
Financial considerations will be honored.
How did you get started teaching?
Invited to take on established yoga studio teaching at Chrysalis Natural Medecine Center in 1993 and 5 years later established Very Near Yoga Studio.

When the student is ready, the teacher appears.

What dedication the student is prepared to give in search of their pursuit of yoga? This involves scheduling, time for home practice, financial considerations, family obligations & personal goals of health & wellbeing.
