About this pro

With my music education at Berklee College of Music I can help you achieve your musical goals with proven methods while having fun doing so. The following applies to all my lessons not just guitar...

I especially enjoy working with beginners from 8 to 80 on guitar, piano, bass, and ukulele. Also adults, professionals for stress relief, retirees, kids and future guitar gods....

who are serious please..

If you play guitar and have been playing the same songs, same solos, have not improved in a long time, and feel that you are not moving forward but have the desire to…

There is a solution for you to consider…

The problem can be fixed with the right guitar instructor!!!

I'm a Berklee Grad / guitarist and I specialize in Rock, Blues, R&B, Funk, Jazz, some Metal, Acoustic

Theory, harmony …( Reading notes not necessary, tab is. I do teach music reading also.)

What I find with most players is they have no idea what they're doing. Consider this…

problem #1

Another common issue is "not" learning a song correctly with the right chords and chord Inversions...

problem #2.

Many guitarists believe that they don't need to know the names of the notes & chords, what key the song is in, why some or many notes sound wrong when creating a solo...

problem #3.

Too many guitarists go nowhere because they can only "play the boxes" or "familiar shapes".

Problem #4.

if you have a sound that is horrible to your ears, why would you want to practice at all?

If you're serious about progressing on the guitar with a "goal" to learn songs correctly, put in the practice time needed, want to know "why" certain scales, arpeggios & solo patterns work, learn ways to get out of the "rut boxes," get a better tone out of your axe and look forward to gaining confidence when thinking about jamming with friends or at open mics, and the most important part: getting the gig if you audition for a working band......

If the guitar neck/fretboard still baffles you as a beginner/intermediate -- or even advanced -- player or because you've been playing your whole life and it still doesn't make sense full sense to you: and if you are interested in taking your knowledge of the neck to a completely different level and also UNDERSTAND EVERY STEP ALONG THE WAY, 1) you are not alone; 2) then this is the place.

Learning the neck does not have to be drudgery or boring rote memorization you can learn the neck while having fun jamming/soloing to backing tracks.

Please don't shy away if you're a beginner or intermediate player; I like especially to teach adults who are recreational players/hobbyists who just love guitar -- as one student said "I love guitar as my hobby and always return to it, but I've been playing so long and know so little, that I'm embarrassed about it." But I do teach all levels and ages -- beginners to pros -- and enjoy kids / adult beginners. Lessons are as informal as possible and they're all about having FUN while learning / playing.

Like I mentioned earlier I am a Berklee College of Music Grad and have been helping students achieve their musical goals . It is very satisfying for me to see my students become good musicians and artists.

Is there anything better than that?

I have played in many bands, done many recording sessions and am an active player and music producer / engineer.

I also was co-author of Steve Vai's first guitar book "Guitar Extravaganza".

I have also worked with Dave Rosenthal (Billy Joel, Cindi Lauper, Ritchie Blackmore, Robert Palmer).

Paul Fraizer, (David Byrne)

Paul Nowinski (Keith Richards, Les Paul, Ricky Lee Jones).

Steve Loecher (Roy Buchanan, Jim Thackery, Cathy Jean)

Grahm Hawthorne (Paul Simon, Barry Finnerty)

Ike Willis (Frank Zappa)

Chris Ishee (Englebert Humperdink, Maynard Furgeson)

To name a few...

So get in touch today and let me help you realize your musical passions!!!

Ok, so I've only taken 2 lesso ns so far. Greg is fun and different from any other music teacher I've worked with! Start out by learning songs instead of scales, all while learning the notes at the same time. Gives positive encouragement and is an awesome guitar player as well.

Greg is a great teacher with amazing knowledge and patience! He works at a comfortable pace for my 9 year old son and reassures him when he gets frustrated with notes. My son enjoys learning from him - even through the pandemic in an online format (and my son is not a fan of Zoom). I would highly recommend Greg for guitar lessons!

  • Bridget Hutton

He has a lot of knowledge of music and the guitar. He is patient and can explain how to play in different ways. Excellent instructor. Would recommend to others!

He challenged me every week to push my boundaries, making me pick up the guitar quicker than I expected.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

The first thing is to evaluate the students skill level if they are not a beginner.

Then discuss the students musical goals, inspiration for wanting to do music and musical influences.

Next would be to plan lessons to get you going to reach those goals.
