What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with ALL ages from 5 years old to Senior Citizens 83 yrs old.

I have found there is always a way for someone to learn - we just have to find their learning styles.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Be sure you have time to practice your instrument at least 15 minutes a day, 5 days a week. This will help you make the best progress and save you alot of money. It also makes Music & Math easier and they even become Fun.

Be sure to find a teacher that can work with your particular learning style. People learn in many different ways, and when the teacher doesn't see this or work that way, the student sometimes feels like a failure. However, it really is because the student learns a different way.

For Piano & Guitar - Be sure your fingers are long enough. If the Student is VERY young, be sure they have developed their fine motor skills..Taking our Expressive Music Program helps develop the Gross Motor & Fine motor skills needed to play an instrument and the Students progresses in lessons much more quickly and easily.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Consider:

Learning Style. Do you know the best ways your learn? Do You know what makes things easy for you & what makes it hard for you. (Example - is reading all these details here - confusing or helpful??)

Types of Music You like to listen to.

Types of Math skills that are easy & those that are hard.

Time you have available. You don't want to over commit yourself.

Your motivations and personal Goals.
