About this pro

My teaching approach: "I cut thru all the confusion of approaching the guitar. I give you the tools you need to have fun and start jamming right away with songs you want to play, while at the same time teaching you the fundamental principles of the instrument. I also teach everything from rhythmic structures and chord structures—to stage presence and how to select—and use—the right music gear!!!" My influences are: Christian Worship Music, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan My guitar lessons take place in: The teacher's studio Guitar Techniques: Guidance In Equipment Selection, Recording and Production, Song Writing, Scales and Exercises, Music Theory, Reading Music, Jamming Skills, Improvisation, Performance, Vocal Accompaniment, Slide Guitar, Fingerstyle, Open tuning, Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar. Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: In the first lesson we will go over the instruments function and learn a few chords. We will play them together I will show you how to jam and have fun with them right away. A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: I will give you a custom tailored lesson and help you be a well rounded player as well as help you find your voice on the instrument. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: My ideal student loves the guitar and enjoys playing!

I love working with people and helping them achive their dream!!

I've been taking lessons with Dyce for over 3 months now and it's been a great experience. I feel like I have been able to connect more with my guitar and with music overall. I have taken lessons a while ago with different instruments, and I had a couple of guitar instructors a while ago as well, but I have never felt so satisfied with Dyce's mentoring compared to my previous instructors. Dyce has a way to not only teach you about music, but to also show you the importance of it, and he is very succesful to share his energy and passion for music. He doesn't just sit down with you and tell you what to do, and then the class is over. He is very careful to explain the reasoning behind everything and is very patient when teaching you what you have to play step by step. It is very important that when you are learning music by choice; to not find a teacher that would turn your lesson into a classroom, yet find someone that can turn the lesson into a place where you are there for fun and pure love for music. Dyce is very successful at achieving that, and unfortunately time flies when you least expect it. I particularly chose the path of blues and soloing, and Dyce is doing a great job on introducing me into that world. More than an instructor, he becomes your mentor/older brother. And is great to be able to ask him about anything in regards to music, he has an asnwer for everything. I would definitely give him more than five stars! I hope to one day become a pro under his mentorship.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First we book a session by selecting a time that works for both of us.  Then I proceed to assess and diagnos you.  If you are completely new to playing guitar and/or music then its easy-we just start from the beginning.  If you already have some experience then I will spend a few minute watching your playing and asking you some specific questions that will reveal your current skill level and knowledge base.  After I get a general idea of how proficient you are the the guitar, I proceed to start giving you instruction.
